The Brief

The area needed to be transformed and cleaned up. The design needed to be simple, effective, hard wearing and low maintenance. This was of particular importance because the house was to be rented out to tenants.

Solution & Approach

Instead of a narrow path of concrete pavers we decided to remove this and increase the level area, approximately 11 metres by 3 metres. This new level area would create a perfect play space for kids and also an area where the clothes line can go as well as some outdoor tables and chairs.

Synthetic turf was put down on a stabilised base, screeded and levelled. The finished product is a clean open space.

The boundary hedge used was Syzygium Australe and followed the fence line.

A selection of robust low maintenance natives were used. These included Grevellia moonlight, Grevillea robusta , kangaroo paw and dianella grasses.

The end result is a low maintenance practical area, perfect if you are looking to simplify your back yard.
