Cottage gardens are some our favourites because they allow you to incorporate countless varieties of plants - but how do you create a sense of order in a garden like this? Try adding some elements of formal structure such as topiaries and bordering hedges. My favourite variety of topiary is 'buxus microphylla japonica’ - it loves being pruned and is incredibly tough.
